OVERVIEW

For more than 300 years, Coutts has delivered exceptional service to clients, providing private investments, wealth management, commercial banking and tax advice.

The Bank prides itself on building professional relationships that last. This applies both to the Bank’s customers and their chosen supply partners.

When embarking on a significant restructure of their internal Change Function, Coutts turned to specialist Change Management recruitment provider, Stanton House.

CONTEXT

We were engaged alongside five pre-existing preferred suppliers with the remit to attract, shortlist and on-board a significant number of permanent roles within the Change Management function.

The roles encompassed the delivery of Change Management across the following functions;
Operations & Risk, Products & Services, Front Office and PMO. The roles ranged from Project Managers and Business Analysts to Programme Directors. The scale of the undertaking was anticipated to be 14 permanent hires, including the Head of three of the four functions, these roles being at Executive Director Level.

SOLUTION

Our approach was to invest the time to better understand the cultural context of the Change Function and the broader Bank to understand the behaviours of the most effective Change professionals in the organisation. By so doing, we were able to assess all potential hires against stringent behavioural expectations.

We assessed each candidate in respect of their execution of practical change methodologies as well as their behaviours in the delivery of change.

OUTCOME

Shortlists for each role were provided to the line managers and we received feedback along the way which helped us adapt and improve our attraction and selection process. Out of an initial pool of six recruitment providers, we successfully filled 10 of the 14 roles, including all three of the Head of roles.

"The Stanton House team developed a deep understanding of what we needed to create an exceptional Change Management function; they really understood the cultural aspects. They consistently delivered exceptional results and have played a significant part in building a team able to deliver what the business needs."
