Job Title:
Finance Director

Stanton House is partnering with a high growth, Private Equity backed B2B Media business who is looking to appoint a Finance Director.

The new Finance Director will support the business on its next stage of growth and development and work closely with the existing team and Private Equity owners, Chairwoman and CEO.

As the Finance Director, you will help create a best-in-class finance function, supporting the business in fulfilling its potential to become a market leader in its field. This will include optimising the financial performance and insight for the business and ensuring that the team is developed to reach its full potential.

In order to be successful in the role

  • A recognised finance and accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).
  • Prior experience as a finance leader with a demonstrable track record of creating value for shareholders in a business in smaller, high growth business.
  • Prior experience within B2B highlight desirable.
  • Ideally, some prior experience of working in an investor-backed business, given the understanding this brings of the Private Equity mind set.
  • Experience driving financial process improvements in a complex, international, cost-conscious business environment.
  • Strong financial modelling and data analysis capability.
  • Significant experience of driving management information systems implementation, improvement and optimization to enable better decision making at the board level. Experience of creating tools that make a complex business simple to analyse and of creating a culture of transparency and accountability.
  • Successful track record in smaller, growing business environments.
  • Track record of driving cost reduction and efficiency gains.

Key Responsibilities shall include but not be limited to

  • Develop and maintain effective financial processes, people and systems to deliver a fit for purpose finance and operational function with timely, accurate, insightful and compliant financial reporting.
  • Coordinate annual budgeting and reforecasting.
  • Accurate cashflow forecasting and management.
  • Proactively analyse and improve key business areas including product margins and stock management.
  • Develop and optimise the company's financial systems, ensuring they are robust, compliant and will support current activities and future growth. Develop and maintain timely, comprehensive and accurate KPIs and business reporting processes.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with the senior management and owners of the business, establishing a high level of credibility and ensuring strong working relationships. Develop a strong working relationship with external stakeholders too, such as banks, negotiating appropriate finance facilities as the business grows.
  • Contribute to the development of company strategy, challenging assumptions and decision making as appropriate, providing financial analysis and guidance on activities, targets and business drivers.
  • Ensure full compliance in all areas of finance and taxation. Establish and manage company policies regarding risk management and working capital management as appropriate
  • Oversee the legal/contracting process, engaging external assistance as required. This will involve significant input into pricing and contract negotiations with customers and suppliers.
  • In due course, support the financial aspects of a sale process, including involvement in the preparation of sale materials and presentations to potential buyers.
