Job Title:
CFO (Cyber Security)

CFO

IT Services / Security Buy & Build

Remote working with occasional travel

Up to £140,000 + Equity

A dynamic and rapidly growing private equity firm is launching a new buy-and-build platform, committing approximately £35 million in equity to the strategy. The goal is to complete more than 30 acquisitions over the next five years, creating a market-leading business with an annual EBITDA exceeding £30 million.

I am looking to connect with entrepreneurial, commercial individuals who are looking for a step up into a commercial CFO role.

Role Overview

The business is seeking a CFO to join at an early stage and drive the financial strategy as it scales. This individual will be responsible for building the finance function, overseeing financial operations, and supporting M&A activity to establish a market-leading cybersecurity business.

An M&A Director, reporting to the CFO, will be recruited to support deal execution and pipeline development. While initial acquisitions will be UK-based, international expansion is anticipated once a strong foundation has been established.

The CFO will play a key role in financial strategy, integration planning, reporting, and risk management while leading the finance team to support rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a robust financial strategy, providing leadership and strategic financial input to support decision-making.
  • Oversee budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Establish best-practice financial systems and processes to support the company's expansion.
  • Lead financial due diligence, valuation, and post-acquisition integration for newly acquired businesses, ensuring financial control.
  • Prepare and present monthly financial reports, analyse financial data, and provide insights to inform short- and long-term growth plans. Ensure timely and accurate fund reporting and valuations.
  • Ensure adherence to financial regulations and statutory requirements while overseeing risk management policies.
  • Recruit, manage, and develop a high-performing finance team as the business scales.

Candidate Profile

  • Proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or in a similar leadership role.
  • Strong understanding of corporate finance, financial strategy, and performance management principles.
  • Experience in building financial processes and systems from the ground up.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management.
  • Expertise in data analysis, forecasting, and financial modelling.
  • Background in audit from a Big Four accountancy firm.
  • Strong academic credentials.
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g. CA, ACA, CFA).
  • Knowledge of the cybersecurity, technology, or software sectors.
  • Track record of managing complex projects and driving results in a high-growth environment.
  • Commercially astute with strong business acumen.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • A highly motivated self-starter with the resilience and work ethic required to succeed in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
