CFO

Chief Financial Officer

Lower Mid-Market - Professional Services / Technology

Birmingham (Hybrid - Very Flexible)

£150,000-£180,000 + Equity

Stanton House is working exclusively with a lower mid-market fund to source an experienced CFO for a technology portfolio business specialising in app development and resource augmentation.

With a strong foundation and a leadership team in transition, the business is executing an ambitious buy-and-build strategy. With a current EBITDA of approximately £12 million and plans to expand through acquisitions, the organisation is focused on scaling its operations and enhancing its service offerings, particularly within legal services and system improvements.

I am looking to connect with individuals who have led a buy-and-build strategy and successful exit ideally in professional services. You will be a strong people manager with ability to upskill and lead a currently fragmented team.

Role Overview

As CFO, you will be a key strategic leader, driving financial strategy, operational excellence, and M&A execution. You will work closely with the Group CEO to implement the company's buy-and-build strategy, execute 2-3 significant acquisitions over the next 1-2 years, and prepare the business for a potential exit in 2027-2028. You will also be responsible for mentoring the existing Head of Finance, supporting their development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CEO to shape financial strategy, ensuring alignment with growth ambitions and private equity expectations.
  • Lead financial due diligence, integration, and synergy realization for targeted acquisitions.
  • Oversee financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting to the board, investors, and PE stakeholders.
  • Enhance financial systems, controls, and processes to support scalability and efficiency.
  • Optimise working capital, manage financing arrangements and ensure financial resilience.
  • Coach and develop the existing Head of Finance, fostering a high-performing finance function.
  • Act as a key liaison between private equity investors, banks, auditors, and external advisors.

About you

  • Proven experience as a CFO or Finance Director in a lower mid / mid-market, private equity-backed business.
  • Expertise in buy-and-build strategies, M&A execution, and value creation.
  • Strong technical finance acumen, including financial modelling, FP&A, and capital structuring.
  • Hands-on leadership style with the ability to mentor and develop finance teams.
  • Willingness to travel across the UK as required.
  • Ideally based near Birmingham or open to commuting. The working structure is incredibly flexible.
